NEFORUM terms of service

Who we are and what this covers

NEFORUM is made by Neforus (neforus.com). These terms cover the NEFORUM app on every platform, the NEFORUM browser extension, and the downloads on this website and on NEFORUM's GitHub page. If you created your own developer app (for example a Meta, X, Tumblr or Google app) to use NEFORUM and entered this page as its terms of service, these terms describe how that app is used: only NEFORUM on your own device uses it. By installing or using NEFORUM you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

The software and its license

NEFORUM is free of charge and needs no NEFORUM account. Its source code is published under the GNU General Public License version 3 (GPL-3.0). You may run, study, change and share NEFORUM as that license allows. Where these terms and the GPL differ about the software itself, the GPL wins; these terms add rules about how you use NEFORUM with other services and do not restrict any right the GPL grants.

Your accounts and the networks' rules

• You connect your own accounts on each network. Only connect accounts that you own or are authorized to manage.
• Every network has its own terms, community rules and, for its API, developer policies. When NEFORUM posts for you, you are the one posting, and you must follow those rules, including their limits on automation, scheduling, repeated content and posting volume.
• If you use your own developer app and API keys, you are the developer under that network's agreement. Any fees, quotas, reviews or restrictions are between you and the network (for example, X charges new developer accounts per post).
• Networks can change or close their APIs, suspend apps or accounts, or remove posts at any time. Neforus has no control over this and is not responsible for it.

Acceptable use

Do not use NEFORUM to:

• send spam, or post the same content repeatedly in a way a network forbids;
• harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, or mislead people about who is posting;
• post anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
• manipulate a network (fake engagement, coordinated inauthentic activity, getting around a ban or suspension);
• post to accounts or pages without the owner's permission.

Your content

What you write and upload stays yours. Neforus does not receive your posts, claims no rights to them and does not review them. You are solely responsible for your content and for making sure you have the right to publish it. Each network you post to receives your content under its own terms.

Hand-off and the browser extension

For networks NEFORUM cannot post to automatically, it prepares your post and opens the network's own page or app, and you publish it yourself. The NEFORUM browser extension fills in that page for you. It only presses a network's Post button when you ask it to (with Ctrl+Enter or Post now), and it only talks to NEFORUM on your own computer. You remain responsible for checking a post before you publish it.

Scheduling and delivery

NEFORUM tries to publish scheduled posts on time, but it cannot promise that a post will go out at a given time, or at all. A post can be delayed or fail if your device is off or offline, a network is down or rate-limiting, a sign-in has expired, or a network refuses the post. NEFORUM shows what happened in its activity log. Check important posts yourself.

Other services

NEFORUM works with services that Neforus does not run: the social networks, and any media host you choose in Settings (such as your own storage bucket or a temporary file host). Their terms and privacy policies apply to what you send them. Neforus is not responsible for their availability, their changes or what they do with your content.

Downloads

Official NEFORUM downloads are only on this website and on NEFORUM's GitHub releases page. Compare a download with the published SHA-256 checksums if you want to be sure it has not been altered. The macOS and iOS builds are not yet signed by Apple, so your device may warn you before opening them. Copies from anywhere else are not official.

The NEFORUM name and logo

The NEFORUM name and logo identify the official project by Neforus. The GPL does not grant rights to them. You may use them to refer to NEFORUM, but if you share a changed version of the software, give it a different name and logo so people are not misled about who made it.

No warranty

NEFORUM IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU. This matches sections 15 and 16 of the GPL.

Limitation of liability

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NEFORUS AND NEFORUM'S CONTRIBUTORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE NEFORUM, INCLUDING LOST POSTS OR DATA, MISSED OR DUPLICATED POSTS, SUSPENDED OR CLOSED ACCOUNTS, FEES CHARGED BY A NETWORK, OR LOST PROFITS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the laws of your country that cannot be waived by agreement.

Stopping

You can stop using NEFORUM at any time. To remove your data from your device and revoke NEFORUM's access to your accounts, follow the steps in the privacy policy.

Changes

If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Using NEFORUM after a change means you accept the new terms.
